How Some Vitamins Make You Fat!
By Research Scientist Josh Bezoni
It’s sad but true; your body cells are constantly decaying
and dying every second of every day.
Too bad it’s not those pesky, unwanted fat cells that are
dying off instead of the healthy cells you need.
But this email can change all of that…
You see, much of the air we breathe, and the foods we eat,
contain deadly toxins and “evil” free-radicals that constantly
attack and kill the precious cells in your skin, heart, lungs,
immune system, and even hormones that control every function
of your body–including your mood and romantic health.
This “attack” leads to low energy levels, decreased
fat-burning, and poor health. Not to mention that excess
free-radicals can:
1. Damage your skin, causing wrinkles that make you look older
than your actual age.
2. Cause hair-loss and damaged hair.
3. Lead to weak and fragile nails.
4. Cause inflammation, which many experts believe is the
cause of most major diseases–especially cancer.
5. Initiate a low “romantic-drive” and a decrease in mood.
What’s more, millions of body cells die each day from
malnutrition… meaning we aren’t consuming the proper
nutrients needed to keep our bodies thriving, healthy, and
full of vitality.
Inadequate nutrient intake can contribute to a host of health
problems, including diabetes, heart disease, allergies and even
obesity. In fact, last year during a meeting of top nutrition
scientists at the University of California, a startling idea
was proposed: Americans are fat (and getting fatter) not just
because we’re eating too much, but because…
We’re Eating Too Little of Key, Critical Nutrients!
You see, there are certain vitamins and minerals that are
essential to the human body–nutrients we can only get by
consuming them. If you sit down to a meal that doesn’t give
your body the nutrients it needs, your brain is likely to give
your mouth the “signal” to keep eating until you do.
Scientists say this is why some people always have constant
hunger and cravings–they never get all the nutrients their
body so desperately needs, even if they eat plenty of fruits
and vegetables. (Have you ever experienced uncontrollable
cravings like these?)
Furthermore, a team of scientists at the Fred Hutchinson
Cancer Research Center analyzed survey data from 15,000 people
who were asked about the foods they eat, the supplement they
use, and their weight changes over the past decade. They were
surprised to discover that people who regularly consumed
three common nutrients typically gained LESS fat over the
10-year period than those who didn’t.
These nutrients included chromium (which balances blood
sugar levels that control hunger), and Vitamins B6 and B12
(which are both involved in helping convert calories to
energy, so they aren’t stored as fat.)
In addition, researchers from the University of Rochester
reported that overweight and obese children are more likely,
than kids of normal weight, to be deficient in iron. (Many
overweight women are also “low” in iron.)
Furthermore, according to written accounts from Amanda Prasad,
MD from Wayne State University, a longtime expert on the mineral
zinc, people who don’t get enough zinc in their foods lose
muscle tissue. Loss of muscle tissue slows the metabolism
and causes weight-gain. On the other hand, getting enough zinc
could help you increase muscle tone and help you drop pounds
by boosting your metabolism.
Are you worried if you’re getting enough of all these vital
vitamins and minerals?
If so, don’t be. Thankfully, you can do something to protect
yourself from these “weight-gaining” nutrient deficiencies and
cellular damage:
1. You can either get all the vitamins and minerals you need
by meticulously consuming large amounts of fruits and vegetables.
(Something us Americans aren’t very good at because it’s very
difficult to do. Besides, much of the soils our fruits and
vegetables are grown in are depleted of nutrients. Thus, so
are the crops.)
Or…
2. You can take a powerful multi-vitamin and mineral supplement.
But that’s only going to work IF you choose the right one…
The Problem With Ordinary Multi-Vitamins
1. Many companies use cheap and ineffective ingredients in
their multi-vitamins (including minerals that aren’t chelated),
so the body does not absorb these nutrients properly, reducing
any potential benefit. And, unless you have a biochemistry
degree, it’s almost impossible to tell the “good stuff” from
the bad.
2. Many vitamin tablets are “pressure-packed.” This means
they WON’T dissolve when you swallow them. In fact, they
will pass right through you! There are actual documented
cases where port-a-potties have been emptied and hundreds of
un-dissolved vitamins found.
3. Many brands leave out vitally important nutrients altogether.
Why? Because they don’t think you’ll notice. This helps them cut
costs and add to their bottom line. What a scam!
4. Tests conducted by an independent consumer protection agency,
and reported in Oprah’s magazine “O”, showed that 50% of
multi-vitamin and mineral supplements do not contain the
nutrients marked on the label. So, for example, let’s say a
popular, brand-name vitamin says it has 100% of the RDI for
Vitamin C on it’s label. Well, tests may show that it contains
as little as 10%–or no Vitamin C at all–and they may not
contain any of the other important vitamins and minerals listed
on the label either! In addition, many multi-vitamins tested
high for potentially dangerous impurities like bacteria or
lead! (Ever heard of lead poisoning?)
